Act V: Hymns with the Devil in Confessional is the seventh studio album by American progressive rock band The Dear Hunter, released on September 9, 2016, via Equal Vision Records and Cave & Canary Goods. It is the fifth part in their long-form concept series / story arc, continuing the saga of “The Boy” at the turn of the 20th century. The album delves into themes of guilt, identity, addiction, corruption, and confession, combining orchestral arrangements, narrative songwriting, and a rich mix of rock, folk, jazz, and experimental elements. It is noted as being the final “rock”-oriented entry in the “Acts” series in its current form.
