RUDE RECORDS CELEBRATES MILESTONE 20TH ANNIVERSARY
MILAN, ITALY– DECEMBER 5, 2020 – Independent record label, Rude Records, home to bands such as Set It Off, Saves the Day, Stand Atlantic, Less Than Jake, The Maine and many more - will celebrate a milestone 20-year anniversary as an independent record label on December 7, 2020.
The label will be kicking off an amazing week of exclusive content, signing announcements, Instagram takeovers, vinyl drops and more to commemorate and to say thank you to fans and the amazing artists they’ve had the pleasure of working with throughout the years.
Founded in 2000 by Ilich Rausa and Gianluca Amendolara, Rude Records has had much to celebrate in its 20 years. In its two decades, the label has sold over half a million records and has been developing a growing roster of international artists.
"It’s all been a fantastic journey and continues to be so every day,” says Rausa. “I got my start young, and have worked with lots of my heroes through the years. I’ve witnessed many historical changes in the music industry and have gotten the pleasure to know so many up and coming artists. This is probably the best job a person can do. I can’t wait for the future and to see the next 20 years. Thanks for being Rude!"
Rude Records first gained recognition in in 2001, when a song by Sun Eats Hours was included in a Rock Sound compilation and they were contacted to support The Offspring on tour. In 2005, Rude Records established a collaboration with Nitro Records, and in the following year, a new deal was signed with Side One Dummy Records to promote their catalog in Southern Europe. Agreements with Punk Core, Bad Taste Records and Hopeless Records soon followed.
The second decade of the label's history has consisted of considerable international growth as the label has established teams in the US, UK, Australia, Japan, and Asia. In fact, just this year Rude Records signed a worldwide agreement this with Sony-owned distribution and services company The Orchard for digital distribution and a deal with Sony/ATV for the management of publishing.
Rude Records has demonstrated a keen ability to identify and sign promising emerging artists and bring them to success through its development of bands like Sundressed, Blood Youth, and Happy. and many others. Stand Atlantic has experienced incredible growth with their 2017 EP Sidewinder selling over 25k copies worldwide. The label has also released albums from established acts like Set It Off whose album Duality achieved Double Silver status in Europe under Rude Records’ representation.
"We can't be thankful enough for these twenty years as a label,” mentions Federico Croci, who handles A&R at Rude Records. “A massive thank you goes to all the artists that have been, are and will be part of our family and journey into music. Having the chance to share ideas, time & goals with amazing artists all around the globe has been the force to keep doing what we love most. We couldn't be here without sharing with them the same passion & values. Here's to another 20!"
One of the initiative’s Rude Records is especially proud of is its Rude Cares charitable arm. Rude Cares was established this year when Sundressed hosted their “Oh Please” Fan Video Contest where the band invited fans to submit videos of themselves singing along to single for a chance to have one bill paid in hopes that they could offer some form of aid to their fans during such trying times. The label aims to increasingly develop Rude Cares over the next few years to take their small, positive impact worldwide.
